This course deals with both the medical and mental health issues that correctional officers deal with themselves and with inmates. Officers will learn  how to be mentally prepared to discuss emotional subject matter of suicide and suicidal tendencies of inmates and other mental health issues that arise. Officers will learn how to identify these issues as well as what procedures to follow based on the situation. Officers will also learn how to deal with physical injuries to themselves and inmates. An important part of this class is how officers deal with their mental health given the stressful job requirements.
