The Law Enforcement Liability class discusses criminal and civil liability issues as they relate to law enforcement. The student will learn how law enforcement activity necessitates close interaction with the public which can result in complaints and legal action. This class covers how law enforcement personnel are legally responsible if they commit violations of the law and provides an in-depth overview of compensatory and punitive damages that can be awarded to a  plaintiff if civil actions are taken. A review of torts under common law actions is included in this class.
