The power of arrest is a mandate given by a central authority that allows an officer to remove a criminal’s (or suspected criminal’s liberty. The power of arrest can also be used to protect a person, or persons from harm or to protect damage to property.  An officer must know when to invoke these powers correctly and what procedures to follow when an arrest is made.  This course covers the procedures and policies given to an officer when dealing with the subject of arrest.
